Wollstonecraft was named after Edward Wollstonecraft, the first settler to receive a land grant in the area in 1821. Its hilly, leafy streets cascade down from Pacific Highway culminating in beautiful Berry Island Reserve on the tip of the peninsula. Here you can rest a while, take in the spectacular harbour backdrop, picnic, watch the kids in the playground or explore the Gadyan Track, a 20 minute bushwalk that interprets the area's Aboriginal history.
A number of other parks are dotted around the suburb, including Smoothey Park, which links to the Gore Cove bush walking track, and Brennan Park, with its historic rockery gardens and playground sheltering under a sprawling fig tree.
There's a small cluster of village shops and cafes around the train station however if you're looking for something a little more lively, neighbouring Crows Nest is renowned for its thriving culinary scene. Take a leisurely walk or short drive to enjoy its multicultural dining, cosy small bars and unique retail stores.
Wollstonecraft lies within the catchment for the highly regarded public school Cammeraygal High School.
