Seaforth, NSW 2092
Prestigious Seaforth hugs the eastern reaches of idyllic Middle Harbour, affording many of its residences glorious water views.
This prized suburb is a family favourite with a safe, friendly environment and a local shopping hub with a welcoming village feel.
You can dine out at an array of multicultural restaurants, grab your morning coffee from trendy cafes, peruse the delights of gourmet delis, shop at high-street boutiques or browse designer homewares, as many of the design-conscious locals do. Seaforth Piazza is home to Seaforth Village Community Centre, a modern multi-use community facility featuring versatile spaces for a range of functions and activities.
Seaforth's north-western corner encompasses the southern tip of Garigal National Park, providing a wonderful recreational resource. Meander along the recently upgraded, sometimes challenging Timber Getters Track, which starts at Seaforth Oval, a popular local sporting field, and ends at a dramatic headland picnic spot where you can soak up the harbour vista. If you've got the energy, continue along The Bluff Track which follows the upper reaches of Middle Harbour. There's also a bushwalk to Manly Dam and some great mountain biking trails around Bantry Bay Reserve. Golfing enthusiasts can play nine holes at neighbouring Balgowlah Golf Club or 18 holes at Wakehurst Golf Club.
There are two main spots for swimming along Seaforth's shoreline, both of them on small ribbons of sand. A swimming enclosure on the northern side of Pickering Point is accessed via Gurney Crescent while Sangrado Pool is located at the end of Sangrado Street alongside the Seaforth Sailing Club's boatshed. Alternatively you can head to Clontarf Beach from where you can stroll around to Sandy Bay if you want to take your dog for a dip.
Aside from a smattering of contemporary apartments, Seaforth is primarily home to large luxury homes on substantial parcels of land, often with a pretty spectacular Middle Harbour backdrop. Given the extent of Seaforth's harbourfront, quite a number of its properties cascade down to the water, gazing across Sugarloaf Bay to Northbridge, Castlecrag and Castle Cove in the west, or looking out to The Spit Bridge to the south.
Seaforth's family orientation is clearly evident in the calibre of local pre-schools and schools which include Seaforth Public School, Balgowlah Heights Public School, St Cecilia's Catholic Primary School, Northern Beaches Secondary College Balgowlah Boys Campus, Northern Beaches Secondary College Manly Campus, and Northern Beaches Secondary College Mackellar Girls Campus.
A reliable bus system to the CBD is aided by dedicated transit lanes that make the trip convenient and relatively fast. Seaforth also lies on one of the routes of Manly Council's free Hop-Skip-Jump bus services within the Manly area.
