One of Sydney’s most salubrious addresses, Mosman is renowned for its grand character homes, kilometres of waterfrontage, idyllic boutique harbour beaches and sophisticated village high street.

Located 8km from the CBD, it has three ferry wharves which allow residents to enjoy a scenic commute into the city.

Many distinguished properties from the Victorian, Edwardian and Federation eras grace its leafy, hilly streets. These are interspersed with character apartment buildings and plenty of new luxury boutique apartments and townhomes, concentrated primarily around the retail precinct. With harbour frontage on three sides of this meandering peninsula, there are plenty of opportunities for homes to capture sensational water views.

Balmoral is Mosman's best-known beach, with its iconic rotunda and views out through The Heads. A number of popular cafes and restaurants line its picturesque beachfront, including Bathers Pavilion, contained in the ornate 1920s Art Deco landmark by water. A number of other idyllic bays are popular for swimming and picnicking, including Chinamans Beach and Sirius Cove.

Taronga Zoo is a much-loved Mosman attraction, with the animals enjoying some of the country's premier waterfront real estate and magnificent vistas. A cable car takes you from the ferry directly up to the entrance.

Mosman's main shopping hub is concentrated along Military Road, where you'll find exclusive boutiques and design stores, countless gourmet food purveyors, cafes and specialty stores. Small clusters of village shops are also dotted throughout Mosman, which is an expansive suburb, so no matter where you live, you're likely to find yourself within walking distance of somewhere to grab coffee or dine out.

Much of Mosman's waterfront is devoted to national parkland, making it a glorious place for bushwalks and exploration. Take the gentle bush track from Bradleys Head near Taronga Zoo to Chowder Bay and enjoy views that will take your breath away as you wind past Bradleys Head Amphitheatre and military relics. You can also stroll around Middle Head, with it WW2 fortifications. Walk the Don Goodsir track to the 1801 fort, built in response to a feared French invasion, or explore the tunnels, sandstone gun pits and infamous Vietnam War-era 'tiger cages'.

Reflecting the family oriented nature of the area, there are several well-regarded schools in Mosman including artistically inclined public institution Mosman High School, private boys' junior school Mosman Preparatory School and private girls' school Queenwood.

Though not officially suburbs, Balmoral, Beauty Point, Clifton Gardens and Georges Heights are all areas within Mosman and you may hear people refer to them as their address.
