Hornsby Heights, NSW 2077

For those looking for a lifestyle that’s more peace and quiet and less hustle and bustle, Hornsby Heights offers a great balance of suburban and bushland living.

It lies predominately on the high narrow ridges of the Hornsby Plateau above Galston Gorge and the Berowra Valley National Park which makes up the suburb's rugged and beautiful northern, western and much of its eastern boundaries. While the city lies within a 40 minute drive, you could easily think you're on the Central Coast, given the serenity and leafy surrounds.

Recreation and relaxation take top priority here, with so much natural beauty just waiting to be explored and numerous picturesque bushland trails following the area's tranquil waterways. Meander along the Benowie Walking Track, a section of the iconic Great North Walk that runs between Sydney and Newcastle, great for an overnight hike or day walk. Take the Mt Ku-ring-gai to Calna Creek walk down into the valley following Calna Creek, with its water crossings and sandstone overhangs. There are also plenty of local parks, reserves and playgrounds where you can walk your dog or kick the footy. Rofe Park and Montview Park & Oval play host to Hornsby Heights Football Club, which welcomes all ages and grades.

Thanks to the abundance of local bushland, native flora and fauna abound and it's not uncommon to see kangaroos, wallabies and echidnas regularly visiting residents' homes in addition to countless bird species.

Hornsby Heights is blessed with many serene cul-de-sac streets and houses are often cut into steep blocks affording them wonderful bushland views from the ridge edges. While the suburb is almost solely residential, there are a few local businesses and services dotted around its streets, including the Hornsby Heights Community Centre. However, for all of your retail needs, Westfield is just a few minutes drive away in neighbouring Hornsby, a one-stop shopping hub for everything from fresh food, supermarkets and dining to fashion and Event Cinemas. Buses run regularly to Hornsby train station, which lies in the heart of this thriving retail precinct, and from there a journey to Wynyard station takes 45 minutes.

Local primary schools include Hornsby Heights Public School and Hornsby North Public School. Other nearby educational institutions include the highly regarded selective school Hornsby Girls' High School, Asquith Boys High School, Asquith Girls High School, the co-ed private school Barker College and Hornsby TAFE.
