From Ku-ring-gai Flying-fox Reserve you can watch the fly-out of the grey-headed flying-foxes which have made this bushland valley their home for decades. This important maternal colony consists of about 30,000 to 40,000 bats during summer while during the winter months the population may drop to a few dozen as they leave to feed elsewhere in NSW or Queensland.

Explore the idyllic Lane Cove River and surrounding national parkland, a wonderland of natural beauty where you can hike, mountain bike, kayak or row boats. To the east, you can discover the sublime 2,202 hectare Garigal National Park, with its many walking tracks which hug the waterways of Middle Harbour Creek or horse riding, fishing and canoeing.

Gordon serves as the administrative centre for Ku-ring-gai Council.
