Frenchs Forest, NSW 2086

If you’re looking for a leafy, peaceful place to call home where you can get to know your neighbours and raise your family in safe surroundings then you can’t go past Frenchs Forest.

This welcoming suburb is still more affordable than most of the Northern Beaches, however this is changing as it becomes increasingly sought-after as the older demographic move out and young families move in.

The blocks are big, the gardens generous and the houses are constantly being updated or new homes built making the neighbourhood ever more appealing. Some of the eastern parts of Frenchs Forest even enjoy distant ocean views.

Frenchs Forest has benefited from a $1B investment in infrastructure which includes the new Northern Beaches Hospital and improved transport links. There's also a new town centre planned next to the hospital, which will create a vibrant community focal point. This will include a plaza, high quality public open spaces, pedestrian friendly streets and opportunities for the community to work, meet, shop and dine both day and night.

Forestway Shopping Centre is currently Frenchs Forest's main retail centre, with more than 50 specialty stores and Aldi and Woolworths supermarkets as the anchor tenants. Other smaller shopping villages are located along Sorlie Road and Frenchs Forest Road East where you'll find Skyline shops, the name being derived from the Skyline Drive-in Theatre that existed nearby until the mid-1980s. There are also Glenrose Village shops on the border of neighbouring Belrose.

A significant proportion of Frenchs Forest is bordered by the lush native bushland of Garigal National Park, Middle Harbour Creek and Carroll Creek, ensuring plenty of opportunities for sublime bushwalks or kayaking on meandering waterways. There are also a number of beautiful parks and recreational attractions dotted around the suburb, including Lionel Watts Reserve, where you'll find the Lionel Watts Sports & Community Centre, and Jindabyne Reserve, a steep valley with a creek which forms part of the headwaters of Middle Creek.

Swim laps indoors or outdoors at Warringah Aquatic Centre, take the kids skateboarding at the Frenchs Forest Vert Ramp or get involved in the local baseball club that plays at Aquatic Reserve Baseball Park. It's also just a 15 minute drive to much-loved beaches such as Dee Why.

While predominantly residential, the busy main artery Warringah Road is lined with business parks and corporate headquarters, with abundant space being a drawcard.

Given the family oriented nature of Frenchs Forest, it's unsurprising that its schools are abundant. Local government schools are highly reputable, including Frenchs Forest Public School, Mimosa Public School, The Forest High School and Davidson High School. Catholic St Martin's Primary School, John Colet School and Forestville Montessori are also nearby, while Arranounbai School is a well-regarded specialabilities school.

When it comes to public transport, buses are your only option, with numerous public and private services concentrated along main roads taking you to various reaches of Sydney such as the CBD, Manly, Warringah Mall, Macquarie University and Terrey Hills.
