Crows Nest, NSW 2065

Crows Nest is a true village in every sense of the word, loved for its sense of community and thriving commercial hub that’s home to a renowned culinary scene adored by serious foodies.

Located 5km north of the Sydney CBD, the suburb was named after a cottage built in the local area by prominent 1800s landowner Edward Wollstonecraft.

Colourful both day and night, Crows Nest's main artery Willoughby Road and the surrounding streets are lined with offices, retailers, restaurants and cafes, where you can enjoy everything from relaxed multicultural eateries right through to fine dining. A number of intimate small bars are perfect for after work drinks or you can head to the revamped Crows Nest Hotel which is open late into the night. A host of interesting fashion, homewares and interiors stores are dotted around the neighbourhood, catering to design-conscious locals.

Picturesque St Thomas Rest Park on West Street is the site of the first European cemetery on the North Shore. Edward Wollstonecraft and his brother-in-law, Alexander Berry, another prominent 1800s landowner and merchant, are interred here. The park includes heritage-listed Sexton's Cottage, which is now used as a museum of local history.

Crows Nest's leafy residential streets are lined with charming turn-of-the-century semis and bungalows along with Art Deco apartments while its more densely populated commercial centre is home to a number of more contemporary apartment developments catering to the many young professionals who call the area home.

Neighbouring suburbs are home to a number of highly regarded schools, both private and public, including the selective North Sydney Boys High School and North Sydney Girls High School, Marist College North Shore, Wenona School, Shore School, Monte Sant'Angelo Mercy College, Cammeraygal High School, St Mary's Catholic Primary School, North Sydney Public School and ANZAC Park Public School.

Crows Nest is well serviced by bus transport and will also have a station along the Sydney Metro City & SouthWest railway line, scheduled to open in 2024, significantly reducing commuting time to the CBD.
